Degustabox and Homemade Boursin

I love Boursin Cheese.   It's one of my weaknesses . . .  the richness, the herbs . . . the way it tastes so good spread onto crackers and crispy things . . .  on celery . . .  on a baked potato . . .  in a wrap or on a sandwich.  It just tweaks all my bells.  I recently made my own Boursin type cheese from scratch and I dare you to tell the difference from the real thing.  This is so close that it's amazing . . . and dangerous, because as long as you keep a few things in your house, you will never be without Boursin cheese again.  Luckily I had some tasty Finn Crisp crackers in the house, courtesy of Degustabox!  I received them in my January box and this was the perfect way to indulge in and enjoy them . . .  but first about my January Degustabox!

COLD PRESS Golden Delicious Apple Juice 1 X £1.40

Because, being cold pressed rather than heated and pasteurised, Coldpress juices and smoothies, launched in 2011 in their distinctive hexagonal bottle, retain more of the good things in juice like more taste, more vitamins and more antioxidants than traditional pasteurised juices. Not only that but, because you’ll need to drink considerably less Coldpress juice than conventional pasteurised juices to get your daily quotient of lovely essential nutrients, you’ll need to take on board rather less of a couple of less desirable things too. Namely sugar and calories. So it’s hardly surprising that, for some of the biggest names on our supermarket shelves, the competition really is hotting up.

This is really delicious apple juice.  We loved it.  Using only the best fruits and vegetables, less sugar etc.  I really admire their ethos.

CROBAR 1 X £2.25

Crobar by Gathr is a revolutionary natural energy bar, containing cricket flour, as well as nuts, seeds and fruit. Crobar is gluten- and dairy free, free from added sugar, as well as Paleo friendly.
The two flavours are Cacao as well as Peanut.

Crickets are not only high in protein, they contain high levels of iron and all essential amino acids. Crickets could be the answer to the ever- increasing and enormous protein demands of the future, as they emit 80 x less Co2 than cattle, require 12 x less water and significantly less land. If we continue to eat as much meat as we do now, we will need another planet by 2050, and insects present an alternative protein source with huge health and environmental benefits.

Cacao & Cricket Flour: Who doesn’t love the flavour of chocolate? The first Crobar combines dates, cashews, goji berries, chia seeds and of course cricket flour, in a delicious combination of goodness. High in fiber and filled with antioxidants as well as healthy omega 3 fatty acids, this bar is an instant crowd pleaser, perfect for pre and post workouts.

Peanut & Cricket Flour: Crunchy and delicious pieces of peanuts form the essence of this bar, perfect for anyone who loves nuts. Mixed in are sunflower seeds and of course cricket flour, which are loaded with antioxidants and bone- healthy minerals. This bar is packed with Vitamin E, and great as a snack before or after exercise.

One of DB's Discoveries.  I confess I have not tasted.  I am afraid my mind just cannot get past the gag factor of eating insects.  My disection of a large black cricket in highschool biology kicks in every time.  Sorry folks.

Internationally recognised as the finest beer in China, Tsingtao is an incredibly smooth and easy to drink pilsner. Founded by The Anglo-German Brewery Co. Ltd in 1903 in the seaport of Qingdao in North Eastern China, it is still only ever brewed here using pure Laoshan Mountain spring water. Our master brewers select only the finest malt and hops and blend rice, from the paddy fields of Western China, to mellow the bitter aftertaste, making it one of the most ‘drinkable’ beers around.
