Wish your mother had been around to teach mine about salads when I was a child. We had a wedge of iceberg with homemade Thousand Island Dressing (the dressing was quite good). I'm so happy that we now have multiple lettuce choices and are free to add not only vegetables, but also fruits. My favorite garden, a few years ago, included mesclun, arugula and cilantro. I bring my own salad seasoning packets from the States and make them myself with yogurt, buttermilk or oil and vinegar. You are so right about homemade. Your salad looks so refreshing.
